Ministry with Older Persons: A Guide for Clergy and Congregationsby Arthur H. Becker provides practical guidance for churches on how to minister to older adults. Published in 1986, the book argues that older members are a valuable part of the congregation and should be intentionally engaged with, rather than marginalized.

In essence, Becker’s work calls for churches to move beyond a neglectful focus on youth and instead embrace the wisdom and gifts of their aging members. By intentionally designing multi-faceted ministries, congregations can promote the spiritual formation and development of older adults, enabling them to flourish in their later years.
